Refund Policy

Refund Policy

When fees are returned, how much, and how long it takes.

Application and admission fees

The application fee is not refundable once an application has been processed, because assessment and document checks begin as soon as the form is received. If an application is rejected because the university made an error, the fee is returned in full.

Where a candidate withdraws after paying the admission fee but before the session begins, the refund depends on how much notice was given and whether the seat could be filled. The table below sets out the slabs for the 2026–27 session.

Withdrawal before the session begins

Written withdrawal received

Refund of tuition fee

15 days or more before the first day of teaching

100 per cent, less ₹1,000 processing

8 to 14 days before the first day of teaching

75 per cent

1 to 7 days before the first day of teaching

50 per cent

On or after the first day of teaching

No refund

The processing charge is waived where the withdrawal is forced by a medical emergency, a court order, or a mistake by the university.

After teaching begins

Tuition is charged for the semester, not for the days attended. A student who withdraws in the first four weeks of a semester receives 25 per cent of that semester's tuition; after the fourth week no tuition is refunded. This does not apply to a student who transfers to another programme within the university with the Dean's approval.

Examination fees, late fees, revaluation fees, hostel mess charges for days already served, and charges for a certificate already issued are not refundable, because the service has been delivered or the cost incurred.

How to claim

Step 01

Write to the Dean

Submit a signed withdrawal letter to the Dean of your faculty, quoting your enrolment number and the reason for withdrawal.

Step 02

Surrender the documents

Return the identity card and library cards, and clear any dues at the hostel, library and laboratory.

Step 03

File the refund form

The Dean forwards the case to the finance office, which issues a refund order with the amount and the deduction shown separately.

Step 04

Receive the credit

The amount is credited to the bank account registered with the university within 21 working days of the refund order.

Scholarships and sponsored seats

A scholarship amount already disbursed is recovered from the refund before the balance is paid. Where a seat was sponsored by an employer or a state scheme, the refund is made to the sponsoring body unless it directs otherwise in writing.

Students admitted against a supernumerary quota — sports, defence, or persons with disabilities — follow the same slabs, but a seat vacated after the cut-off may not be filled, and the processing charge is then applied in full.
