How selection works

Annamalai selects on merit. There is no management quota, no donation seat and no discretionary list. Where a programme requires an entrance test, the test score and the qualifying examination marks are combined in a ratio published with the admission notice; where it does not, the qualifying examination marks alone determine the rank.

Reservation follows Tamil Nadu State policy and is applied at the point of ranking, not afterwards. A reserved-category candidate who would also qualify on the open list is counted on the open list first, so that reserved seats are not silently consumed by candidates who do not need them.

At document verification

Verification is not a formality. Officers check that the marksheet presented matches the marks entered in the application, that the caste or income certificate was issued in Tamil Nadu, and that the qualifying examination is one the university recognises. A mismatch is referred to the Dean and resolved in writing, usually within two working days.

▪

Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, with two attested copies of each.

▪

Transfer certificate, and a migration certificate if you studied outside Tamil Nadu.

▪

Caste certificate issued in Tamil Nadu, and income certificate if claiming a fee waiver.

▪

Aadhaar card and four passport photographs.

▪

Entrance test scorecard, where the programme requires one.

▪

Medical fitness certificate for Nursing, Pharmacy and Agriculture.

Originals are returned the same day. The university retains only the attested copies.

Admission FAQs

Can I apply to more than one programme?

+

Yes, but each programme needs a separate application and a separate fee. You may hold only one confirmed seat at a time; if you are offered two, you must surrender one before paying the second fee.

Which programmes require an entrance test?

+

MBA, BA LLB, PhD, and the 20 per cent university quota in B.Tech. All other programmes admit on qualifying examination marks alone. The syllabus for each test is published with the admission notice in April.

What happens if I miss the fee deadline?

+

Your seat is released to the waiting list at 10 am the next working day. You may still be considered against a later vacancy, but you lose the rank you had earned.

How is reservation applied?

+

Under Tamil Nadu policy: 18 per cent SC, 1 per cent ST, 30 per cent OBC (BC and MBC) and 10 per cent EWS. The certificate must have been issued in Tamil Nadu. Reserved-category candidates who qualify on the open list are counted there first.

Can I change my programme after admission?

+

Only through a formal transfer, approved by the Boards of Studies of both programmes and subject to seat availability and eligibility. Transfers are considered once, in the first two weeks of the second semester.
