About Annamalai University

A multidisciplinary university at Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, teaching across ten faculties since 1928.

Annamalai in brief

Annamalai University is a State university at Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, in the Cauvery delta of Tamil Nadu. It teaches across engineering, science, management, pharmacy, law, education, nursing, agriculture, arts and commerce, and is recognised by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) and 12(B).

The university's academic year runs from July to May, with examinations in November and April. Teaching is organised in semesters for professional programmes and in annual terms for the arts, commerce and science faculties, where the older pattern still suits the way students prepare for competitive examinations.

Annamalai is deliberately a teaching-first university. Its ambition is to be the best undergraduate university in the delta, not a second-tier imitation of an institute of technology — and it measures itself by what its graduates can do.
