Reservation follows Tamil Nadu State policy: 18 per cent SC, 1 per cent ST, 30 per cent OBC (BC and MBC) and 10 per cent EWS.

B.E. admissions are through the State counselling authority; 20 per cent of seats are filled directly by the university on merit.
No admitted student is removed from a programme for non-payment without a hearing before the Dean of Students. Fee waivers are available for SC, ST, EWS and differently-abled students under State schemes, and the university funds 120 merit scholarships a year — forty full-tuition, eighty half-tuition — awarded on the first-semester result. A single girl child of a government school teacher studies free in any undergraduate programme.
